Robin Watson Yacht and Boat Builder

Reliance was finished in July 2008. Then her owner sailed her to Southampton to travel as deck cargo to the USA. She will later be used to cruise the Canadian waters around Vancouver.
Reliance was originally commissioned by University College London in 1976 to undertake fishery research in the North Atlantic. She is a 48 foot twin screw Colvic Watson with a forward wheel house.

All her trawling gear was removed in Bucky, Scotland and an aluminium deck saloon adjoining the existing wheel house was fabricated. It was at this stage that she was sailed to Falmouth for David Walkey and his team to complete the fit out.

The aluminium superstructure was faired and finished with Awlgrip paint. The inside was completely gutted for an entirely new layout, designed by the new owner,Sandy Chapman. The saloon was finished primarily in oiled and french polished pine, while both the state rooms had a painted finish to keep them as bright as possible. The cabin sole in the deck saloon was oak, the wheel house in teak and below the cabins and stairs in sealed cork.
